Paid-Call Firefighter

Being a Paid-Call Firefighter (PCF) is a very rewarding and necessary job. A PCF is a firefighter who is paid on a per-call basis. PCFs have replaced the traditional volunteer in many departments. PCFs are the backbone of the fire service as volunteers have been for hundreds of years. We are always trying to recruit new PCFs to staff our fire department. There are far more paid-call firefighters than career firefighters in the United States and we are very proud of the time our PCFs devote to protecting our city.

Almost anyone can be a PCF. For example, our junior firefighter program allows a person to join at the age of 16. Many of our PCFs have gone on to become career firefighters and have found the fire service to be a very rewarding career.

If you live in or around Nevada City and are interested in becoming a Paid-Call Firefighter, please feel free to pick up an application at Station 54, 201 Providence Mine Road, or download an application using the link below. If you have any questions contact Captain Trygg at (530) 265-2351.
