Engine 54

This is a 2001 Freightliner FL70 engine. It carries 600 gallons of water and 40 gallons of Class A foam. This engine features a Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS), a 1000 GPM main pump and 125 GPM Auxillary pump. Engine 54 is currently used as the first-out engine on all calls.
This engine is co-staffed with Nevada County Consolidated personnel. For more information, see

This engine is equipped with a full compliment of structural and wildland firefighting equipment. It also
carries all equipment neccesary for medical calls and a full set of hydraulic tools used for vehicle extrication.
It can carry 4 personnel.

Engine 5482

The latest addition to NCFD apparatus, our new 2005 Pierce Saber engine was used for six months as the first-out engine. After this break-in period, the engine is now the primary volunteer engine, and is staffed when needed. Engine 5482 is powered by a 400 HP Cummins and features enclosed-cab seating for six with in-seat SCBA mounting, a 700 gallon tank with 1500 GPM pump and an integrated 7KW diesel generator.

This is a 1990 Type 1 Ford 8000 Engine. This engine has been used as the first response engine to any incident during the winter months.
It can carry up to 6 personnel is fully equipped for structural firefighting. It also carries a full compliment of emergency
medical response equipment, including an AED. This engine also
carries our Amkus Tools (Commonly known as the Jaws of Life) and several other
specialty tools used for incidents involving vehicle accidents.

This is a 1978 Type 2/3 Ford Fire Engine. This engine has seen many fires and countless miles. It is equipped with a full compliment of wildland firefighting equipment and
a full compliment of structural firefighting equipment. This engine has been used during summer months to respond to all
incidents that occured within the Nevada City Fire Departments jurisdiction along with request for mutual aid to other
fire departments. This engine is also fully equipped
for medical emergency responses. This engine has seen a long and useful life and many makeovers in
its years, yet is still going strong. It can carry up to 3 personnel.

This is a 1983 Type 3 Model 1 Engine that was purchase from the California Department of Forestry in 1999.
This engine received a full makeover by Nevada City Fire Department personnel receiving a new paint job, redesign
of several compartments and a Class A Foam system. This engine is used primarily for wildland fires. The Nevada
City Fire Department uses this engine with volunteer staffing to respond to mutual aid request to wildland fire
throughout the State of California. This engine has seen many fires and many miles and has traveled into the State
of Nevada and all through Northern California to major wildland fires. Most recently, it traveled to Southern California as part of
a strike team during the fires of 2003. It is equipped with a full compliment of
equipment for wildland firefighting and can carry up to 6 personnel.
